About Us:

The Cushing Fire Department is a dedicated and professional fire department located in Southeastern Payne County. Our department employs 27 full-time personnel consisting of the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Administrative Assistant, and 24 shift personnel responsible for protecting the lives and property of the citizens of Cushing and the surrounding area.

The men and women of the fire department are disciplined to provide service in the areas of municipal fire protection, industrial fire protection, emergency medical transport services, technical rescue, hazardous materials, fire prevention, and public education. Our fire response area encompasses approximately 120 square miles and our EMS responsibilities cover approximately 320 square miles. Continuous response coverage is accomplished with a 24/48 schedule for shift personnel. 24 hours on duty and 48 hours off while utilizing off-duty personnel to backfill the station in the event of an emergency to maintain our minimum staffing requirements which is 5 personnel.

The members of the fire department have the privilege to work in a new state-of-the-art facility, the Public Safety Center, shared with the police department and operate some of the best equipment in the business. The Cushing Fire Department strives to be the best that it can be and continuously train and prepare to respond to whatever emergency arises. That is reflected in the department’s ISO rating which is a Class 3.
